People are in pain. Have you noticed? People are committing suicide…shooting, bombing, pills, drugs. People are in physical pain…hospital burn and cancer wards, terminal illness, recovering from complex surgery, not enough food. People are in emotional pain…grieving the dead, kidnapped children, war-torn countries, ending of relationships. People are in psychological pain…mental illness, depression, loneliness, despair. There are a lot of people in pain. Look no further than your immediate circle of family and friends or on the front page news. Maybe you just need to look in the mirror to recognize the pain you are carrying. People are in pain!
When we are not the one experiencing pain at the moment, sometimes it is easy to ignore it…pretend it isn’t there…or go about living as if it doesn’t really matter. Just so long as our life is clicking along, why should it matter to me?
I believe the world is changed by one person at a time. We may think that governments or world leaders or others in power are who and what changes the world. But I think not. Sure, they make decisions that impact large populations…but it is the individual who actually changes the world. You, me, him, her…we change the world. We change it by the way we think and by the way we treat ourselves and others.
There are a lot of people in pain. How about lets change the world, one person at a time? Today, take a moment and be there for someone in pain. Pause, send a card, smile, say I love you, be present, pick up the phone, be kind, hold your anger and judgment, pray, be still. Stop looking at the news…really SEE other people, acknowledge them…don’t just stare straight ahead as if they weren’t there.
We need to start living, really living in the world instead of passing through it. When we do this we will begin to notice things we previously looked right by. We might notice that our simple gestures make a big difference. We might notice a shift in ourselves…a shift that is changing the world one little bit at a time.
Today, change the world. I know you can!
Peace always
Paula

Great advise. Change ourselves, change the way we see the world…the world changes. Starts with me.
