Hurricane Harvey

It is hard for us to watch the struggle happening in South Texas and Louisiana due to Hurricane Harvey. The flooding is catastrophic and unimaginable. We feel sad and want to help, to make a difference, but we have no idea how we can do that in a meaningful way.

For those of us not directly impacted by this disaster the first thing I might suggest is to notice the brave souls running toward the danger rather than away from it. It reminds me of the photos of first responders running toward the Twin Towers on 9/11 or toward the explosion at the Boston Marathon. There are people with boats, trucks and helicopters, medical personnel, fire and rescue, Red Cross volunteers, shelter operators, social workers, FEMA staff…all running toward South Texas and Louisiana. There are many other folks we don’t even know about, people and organizations who know that running toward is theirs to do at this time. Their skill and courage have positioned them to be the ones who show up this time. How grateful we can feel for their selfless service. Simply pause as many moments in the day that you can remember and feel gratefulness, send gratefulness…and be grateful in your very own life. The vibration of appreciation will make a difference.

The second thing you might notice is how you think about those who are suffering, hungry and trapped. When you pray for them…where is your mind? Are you saying “Oh those poor people, please let them be safe and find comfort”. Are you seeing them in need? Here’s a suggestion. See them comforted, see them at ease…in your mind see them completely enveloped in Love…not the love you are sending but the Love that is seeking to be known through their very being. And then go out into your life and vibrate that same Love…let it flow through you. The vibration of Love makes a difference.

Lastly, I encourage you to be still and allow your intuition to inform you of what is yours to do and be at this time. Set the I don’t know what to do aside, get yourself into a place of ease, take a deep breath and allow Divine Intelligence, Universal Mind, All That Is bring forth in you the idea, the nudge to offer what is uniquely yours to offer. Trust it. Know it is enough…whatever it is.

Above all else, with your entire being, vibrate appreciation and love.
