Lady Gaga: It’s Not Complicated

“I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and apart of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean. No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity.” Lady Gaga

What if everybody did just that, worked harder to be kinder? I mean all the time…not just on social media but in person, one on one, even with those you disagree with. What if your first thought was…how could I be kinder? What could I say or do that would show the best of me?

This is not new thinking folks. This way of approaching life is ancient!

Jesus said simply…Love one another. He even said…love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Does this really need interpretation?

Muhammad said when there is a disagreement…compete in doing what is good. This is probably the last thing that would come to mind in the middle of a disagreement. What if you decided to do one small good thing the next time you found yourself in disagreement? Start small and work your way up.

Swami Vivekananda said…the highest use of life is to hold it at the service of all beings. A simple way to serve others is to be kind, to be compassionate, to care. You don’t need to have a bunch of money, learn a new skill, find time or make it complicated. Just make a decision to serve others with kindness.

Buddha said I do not care about your various theories about God. What is the use of discussing all the subtle intricacies of the soul? Do good and be good. Again, no interpretation necessary.

We might all agree that the world could really use a big dose of kindness. No matter where you find yourself, whether you are sick or well, tired or energized, young or old, working or retired, busy or bored, doubtful or sure, sad or joyful, frustrated or peaceful, fearful or at ease…no matter…you can choose to be kind.

Kindness should be our first duty to all of humanity. Thanks for the reminder Gaga.
