Personal Peace

I made a decision on November 5th, 2024. I decided to stop reading any news related to politics. None. Cold turkey. Full stop. I chose personal peace over curiosity. And guess what? It’s working for me.

I thought I might feel out of touch. Not up to speed about what’s happening in the world. Turns out I can read local news and get information about events at Port City Daily. And I read international news at NPR. I can easily scroll past any headline related to politics. I also read well researched articles at The Conversation, a non-profit news source. I just don’t click on the Politics heading.

So, that’s what I’ve been doing. I have to say, I feel great! I stay more grounded. I feel more aligned with who I want to be in the world. I feel more at ease. I feel better prepared to follow the direction of my heart and to do the things that are mine to do. I have greater clarity about the importance of showing up rested, willing to listen, humble, curious. And I feel happier.

I know the world, in a lot of ways, is in chaos. Besides politics there is war and famine and violence. There are natural disasters. There is hatred and greed and extreme inequality. There is pain…a lot of pain. And uncertainty. I’ve decided the best thing for me to do is to show up feeling my best so I can offer my best. I believe that’s what I’m here to do. Offer the best of me. And I can’t do that if I am constantly enraged and infuriated.

I choose personal peace.
Grateful
Paula
