Shoes

There are a whole bunch of people in this world with a lot of common sense. You won’t find many of them on the front page news. More often, they are ordinary folk who have a wider view of life and who refuse to be monopolized by fear. Maybe you are one of them. Maybe not.

When you carry a narrow view of life, fear dominates your outlook. It is a struggle everyday to make what is happening fit into the way you think it should be. Anxiety, stress, anger…these are constants. Life never seems to be working out. ‘They’ and ‘them’ are often to blame. AARRGGH!

A wider view of life requires that we take a step back, literally. We’ve got to be willing to back up out of the weeds and get a little perspective. With a wider view we don’t get lost in the smallness of life. A step back brings us closer to ease and clarity.

Hugh Fitzsimmons is a rancher who raises bison in Texas about 10 miles from the US border with Mexico. He is an ‘ordinary folk’ I spoke about above. You can read his story here. He says this about his encounter with migrants crossing his ranch:

“It became starkly apparent to me…that we don’t take the time to really put ourselves in each other’s shoes.”

Wider view, common sense, ordinary folk.
Nothing else to say.
Love always
Paula
