Simple Kind of Man

Every once in a while I just want to pass on something that catches my attention. This is one of those times.

When I was preparing to officiate a memorial service for my friend Sean Hogan…this song came into my mind. No good explanation for it…other than the lyrics ended up being perfect and fitting to share with his family and friends. It reminded me of Sean at his best.

It reminded me, too, that we let our lives get complicated. We are way too busy. We overlook the simple things.  We forget what’s important. We always want more and better and bigger. It seems that being satisfied is a bad thing. It means we’re not working hard enough. But that’s just not true.

There are songs and lyrics that pull us back into our heart to take a quick inventory or maybe to press the reset button. Check out this rock-n-roll song released in 1973 by Lynyrd Skynyrd, written by Gary Rossington and Ron Van Zant.

Could this be what you needed to hear today?

RIP Sean. I love you.
Paula
