Tenderness. I’ve decided there is not enough tenderness. There is plenty of hate and violence. Plenty of struggle and disappointment. Plenty of work to be done. Just not enough tenderness.
Tenderness requires thoughtful consideration, it requires a heart connection, it requires putting someone else ahead of your own self. Dictionary.com defines tenderness as being kind, merciful, sympathetic. Look around…do you see much tenderness in people? Look in the mirror…do you see it in yourself? Better yet…check your Facebook posts or text messages. Can you find tenderness?
You probably can find some tenderness. I am not saying there isn’t any…just not enough. I think we could spread it on a lot thicker than we’re doing. Don’t you think? Too often the situation or person could really benefit from a little tenderness. Instead of offering advice or telling the story about how you handled it or saying ‘Well, I guess it was supposed to happen’…why not try a little tenderness?
Stop for a little while. Open your heart. Listen. Make a connection.
And don’t forget to give yourself a little tenderness, too.
Much love
