Uncertain

Wow! What to say about so much that has been in the news over the past two weeks…and just right here in the United States! Many people are living in uncertainty and pain due to fire, flood, wind and rain. More people are suffering and grieving due to loss of life and livelihood, uncertain about how they will go on. There is conflict in the world, in our own government and maybe in our own life. How can we go on?

We live in uncertain times…but this isn’t the first uncertain time. If you take a moment, you might recognize that you have already lived through many of them. Uncertain: not clear or confident, hesitant, unstable, unknown. Life is filled with uncertainty but that doesn’t mean we need to be overwhelmed, immobilized or afraid. Instead of stressing out, we have another choice. Trust.

Christina Broussard lives trusting. She refuses to believe that life sucks. She refuses to accept that what happens to her will take away her outlook on life. In a story by Anya Kamenetz at npr.org, after surviving Hurricane Harvey, and other life challenges, she says this:

“We’ve lost some things, but this is not my first rodeo. I’ve learned to let go of things. I still have a positive outlook.”

So here is the wisdom for us. We need to let go of things. We need to learn to take a wider view of life…see the bigger picture. We need to be easier on ourselves, kinder, more calm. We need to adopt the attitude that this too shall pass…because certainly it will. We need to loosen up and let go of the way we think things must be…and instead plant trust into our consciousness. Having planted trust…we take one step at a time, look around, move forward, ask for what we need, take a deep breath and repeat. Eventually we learn to trust…no matter what.

We can be at ease in the midst of uncertainty.Trust is the key.

All is well.

  1. Thank you for the reminder.I have been experiencing high anxiety worried my grand children’s normal future will be taken away from them., But I lived through the Cuban scare with Kennedy. This too with Korea will pass.

  2. Thanks Paula, beautifully said, and puts thing in perspective.
Gives me a good feeling that all will be well.

I have been missing being with you on Sunday nights.
We went on a great European vacation, then spent some time recovering.

    Looking forward to this Sunday.
    Love, Beverly
