What if you believed that unprecedented things happen all the time? Unprecedented: never before known or experienced. Unparalleled. A new possibility. These two young people in the story by Michael Nedelman didn’t let the past dictate what was possible for them. They made a conscious decision…to engage in life from a belief in possibility. They became research scientists and soon will be PhD’s from Harvard Medical School…having never before thought about this kind of work.
It reminds me of this from Alice in Wonderland.
“There’s no use trying,” Alice said: “one can’t believe impossible things.”
“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
So bring it back to your life. What are you letting control you…instead of the other way around? What if you believed there was no obstacle…that no matter how things seem to be, there is a new possibility, something unprecedented just waiting for you to discover? Waiting for you to say YES. Waiting for you to believe in possibility.
If we judge what is possible by what we know and can see right now, we limit our experience to what already is. To see beyond the current condition is to open up and allow the Divine to lift us up and show us the way. All things are possible to those who believe in possibility and are courageous enough to allow the Universe, Life, Spirit, God to lead the way.
All is well.
